I got involved with music photography approximately ten years ago when I took photos at a jazz concert in my home town Ljubljana, Slovenia and I've been hooked ever since. I blame my parents for this. They sent me to music school where I learnt to play piano and clarinet for ten years so music was an important part of my life from an early age. Rather than being a mediocre musician myself I thought I could do a better job photographing musicians instead. There is nothing I enjoy more than being around people who are passionate about what they do and the music world is an infinite source of people just like that.

A photographer observes a subject and freezes it in a moment in time, in what the photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called the “decisive moment”. The anticipation of that moment is what I find so exciting about photography; whether it's dramatic composition, a great facial expression or an unguarded moment that catches artists at their most intriguing. Without any control over my subject matter I find it an additional challenge to still place the artists in the right setting, in the right light, in the right pose.
